My Story

I live a beautiful life on a peaceful lake in Central Illinois. Two creative and active kids keep my handsome husband and me busy! We manage our rental properties, own MUSE Morton and have a decked out welding and ceramic studio. I love to spend time baking bread, reading historical novels, drinking good coffee and mixing up new cocktails for our weekly Friday Pizza Nights. We love Door County, Wisconsin and I run a half marathon there every Spring.
But it wasn't always like this.
I married my high school sweetheart after dating for four years through high school and college. We were driven and had similar personalities. We graduated college in three years to get on with our careers and goals. As we grew up, we grew apart. Quickly. While our divorce was mostly amicable, it was still painful. The life I thought I knew and the couple I thought I knew were not what I had perceived.
My life had to be reinvented.
I floundered.
I failed.
I messed up.
I didn't recognize myself.
Family and friends (the ones that stuck around) were wonderful supporters but their advice came with a heavy dose of emotion and bias. My lawyer knew we wanted an amicable divorce. I received no advice on my blind spots. I realize now I had many.
I made it through but looking back I realize that I could have thrived rather than just survived. I could have pivoted much faster and with more grace if I had an educated listening partner and coach.
Through the years I have coached friends and acquaintances with their separations and divorces. At one point I had an epiphany: there are Wedding Planners, why are there not Divorce Planners? Couples spend tens of thousands of dollars on their weddings and wedding planners. But divorces? Up until now, we only had the choice to go blindly on the divorce path. We hoped the lawyer we picked (based on the recommendation of a friend) would be good. We prayed the court system would work in our favor. Far too often we threw money away at an impossible outcome.
I took hold of this idea. I am now a Certified Divorce Coach. I find joy in helping you navigate your unique journey. I am giddy when you are successful. I find peace in your calm. I love being a coach in your corner when you are unsure what next step to take. My training covers all facets of separation, divorce and post-divorce challenges.
